Dahahm Choi is a Berlin-based photographer whose work navigates the intersections of image, memory, and the human condition. Born in Seoul and raised partly in Canada, he developed his first rolls of analogue film as a teenager — an early fascination with photographic chemistry that continues to inform his meticulous, process-driven practice.
After relocating to Berlin in 2010, Dahahm worked in New York City under an acclaimed photographer in 2014 before returning to Germany to pursue an independent path rooted in fine art and conceptual photography. His work often draws from disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, history, and geology, using the camera not just as a recording device but as an instrument for emotional archaeology.
Dahahm’s photography explores questions of time, identity, and vulnerability, often through intimate portraits, constructed archives, or landscape-based studies that suggest erosion, pressure, and transformation — both literal and metaphorical. His commercial and editorial collaborations with established brands and magazines reflect the same quiet precision and psychological depth as his personal projects.
Whether working with clients or developing long-form narratives, Dahahm approaches photography as a form of listening — slow, deliberate, and human. He is currently developing new work that seeks to bridge conceptual storytelling with broader cultural impact.
